Terrence Floyd, the brother of George Floyd who was killed by a police officer in Minneapolis in 2020, delivered a powerful speech at Ottawa’s Black History Gala on Saturday. He shared his vision of a world where people of color are not discriminated against or feared for their lives. He also received an award for his work with We Are Floyd, a non-profit organization that helps youth cope with mental health, social injustice, and hope for the future. His message was met with the audience’s standing ovation, including students, elders, and community leaders. The gala was organized by Equal Chance, a group that promotes equity, d犀利士 iversity, and inclusion in Canada. The event was held at the Canadian Museum of History, which honors Indigenous people and their culture.
